What’s New For You?

Annual New Products Guide

We’re halfway through the year, which means it’s time to highlight some of the hottest new products and services in the auto glass industry. From software to sunroofs and everything in between, here’s a handful of solutions for shop managers to consider when seeking an upper hand on the competition.

Cleaner

Tough Enough

The Velocity CR007 A and B are SRP’s new contamination removal products for the auto glass industry. Developed to tackle tough grime and debris, the company says the Velocity CR007 A and B formulas remove contaminants from windshields, including grease, oil, dirt and other stubborn substances. SRP says its CR007 cleaners ensure a thorough cleaning, leaving surfaces spotless and ready to be primed.

Adhesive

Sticky Solution

Sika has launched its SikaTack Ultimate, what the company calls the world’s first 30-minute minimum drive-away time (MDAT) and primerless-to-glass AGR adhesive. SikaTack Ultimate is a cold-applied, fast-curing, high-viscosity polyurethane adhesive designed for use in replacing direct-glazed auto glass parts, without requiring the use of a Sika Aktivator or Sika Primer pre-treatment product on glass or ceramic frit. The company says it has been crash-tested according to FMVSS 212.

Application

Snap, Search and Shop

Pilkington says its Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) search tool reduces the time users spend searching for the right windshield. The advanced search option, accessible through the company’s e-commerce platform, lets customers quickly identify the correct replacement products for a vehicle’s glass openings. A photo taken with a mobile phone or inputting a VIN into the system will provide the appropriate replacement glass pieces, and Pilkington says customers can quickly add the desired product to their online basket and continue with the checkout process.

Equipment

Total Calibration Package

Triad Diagnostic Solutions is marketing the IA900LDWT as two tools in one. The company says it brings speed and efficiency by performing calibrations and wheel alignments in minutes. The package includes the IA900 frame and the MaxiSys Ultra diagnostic tablet with step-by-step calibration and alignment instructions. The frame features a camera-based optical positioning system that Triad says allows users to conduct calibrations in less than five minutes. According to the company, the forward-facing,
lane departure calibration targets cover 95% of vehicles in North America.
