Meet Your Heroes

by Abby Bowman

I’m kind of a journalism nerd. That makes sense, given my career, but there’s more to it than that.

My mom’s background is also in business-to-business journalism. She used her agricultural journalism degree to pursue a sales and marketing career, but she never forgot her roots.

My parents told me that as a baby the sound of Tom Brokaw’s voice was sure to calm me down.

My family always had a subscription to the local print newspaper as I was growing up. I don’t remember looking beyond the comic section as a kid, but by early high school, I was reading the whole paper daily.

My family’s nightly routine included watching the national and local news, which means I knew way more about the Iraq War and the War in Afghanistan than I probably should have at a young age. I kept my older cousins who served in Afghanistan in mind as I watched.

On a more lighthearted note, Tom Brokaw’s voice was one of the few things guaranteed to stop baby me from crying. When he left his role as NBC’s nightly news anchor when I was in grade school, I pouted for months.

I’ve admired many other journalism “greats” since then. The movie “All the President’s Men” solidified my idolization of Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein, the Washington Post journalists who cracked the Watergate story.

I recently met another journalism great at the 2025 Mobility Safety Summit in Washington, D.C. Ben Feller was the Associated Press (AP) White House correspondent for over a decade.

That might not sound too impressive, but hear me out. All news organizations, from your local paper to the national news, turn to AP for reliable, consistent and thorough coverage. This means Feller held one of the most elite roles of any journalist. Do you see why I was more than a little excited to learn from him?

Meeting Feller made me think about the auto glass greats.

Auto glass repair and replacement companies show greatness through business growth, community impact and dedication to the Automotive Glass Replacement Safety Standard (AGRSS).

That’s why I’m delighted to announce AGRR’s 2025 Top Retailers and 2025 Fastest Growing Retailers.

Turn to pages 48 and 52 of this issue to learn who made the lists, and join me Sept. 9-11 in Reno, Nevada, to celebrate them at Auto Glass Week™ 2025.
