Lives Saved by a Proper Installation

Erin Harris (left) and Holly Biller, AGRR staff members, were in an accident when this metal coil (see photo at right) crashed into their windshield, which thankfully stayed intact.

On January 30, 2020 the Auto Glass Safety Council™ (AGSC) uploaded a new video revolving around a windshield catastrophe involving two AGRR magazine staff members. A large metal coil in the opposite lane of the road was struck by another vehicle and hurled into the staff member’s SUV.

“Right after impact it looked like a sheet of white to me,” says Honda CRV driver Holly Biller.

“We had so much glass,” says passenger Erin Harris. “It was all over our bodies. It was all over the con-sole. It was on the floor. It got into our bags, into the cup holders. And there’s glass on my lap. There’s glass on my chest, and there’s glass in my mouth. Glass had gone everywhere.”

The video highlights what hap-pens just before, during and after an object collides with a vehicle’s windshield and the importance of a safe windshield installation. Thank-fully neither person was hurt, and they wanted to use their experience as an educational tool to emphasize the importance of a properly installed windshield.

Since the video was released, it has been loaded for viewing on YouTube and other platforms more than 2,300 times.
